Thai Yoga Bodywork – the Art of Mindful Touch

This post is also available in: Deutsch (German) Español (Spanish)

In this very practical training, we delve into the “Art of Touch.” Thai Yoga is a form of bodywork that combines yoga, mindfulness, and healing touch. This mindful and soothing combination of acupressure, stretches, gentle rocking movements, and passive yoga postures provides deep relaxation and regeneration to the entire system of the recipient. Guided by the breath, the practice primarily works through presence, dedication, sensitivity, clarity, and slowness.

As a yoga teacher, you connect with your participants verbally, visually, and tactilely. Thai Yoga Bodywork can deepen your tactile support in class and make you more confident in touching. For yoga teachers, Thai Yoga Bodywork thus opens up a new approach to working with the body – whether in a class or a one-on-one setting.

TRAINING CONTENT

In this module, Sandra and Silke will introduce you to the fundamentals of Thai Yoga Bodywork, so that after completing the module, you can offer individual sessions or integrate specific techniques into personal yoga sessions or your yoga classes. At the same time, it will intensify your way of adjusting.

The focus is on perception and silent communication between the giver and the receiver. As a giver, you learn to “listen” with your hands: Where does the body need pressure? Where perhaps more space? What intensity supports release instead of resistance?

Thai Yoga Bodywork has a holistic effect. Through gentle stretches, mobilizations, and pressure along the energy lines, life energy (Prana) can flow more freely again. At the same time, deep relaxation occurs on a physical, mental, and emotional level. Many people experience a quality of letting go that has become rare in everyday life.

For yoga teachers, this method is a valuable addition to their toolkit. It cultivates body awareness, quality of touch, and empathy – skills that can open up a new dimension in both individual settings and yoga classes.

This creates a practice that literally touches, and that makes what yoga fundamentally means tangible in a new way: connection.

You will acquire the following knowledge & skills:

  • Qualities of touch in yoga class
  • Giving relaxed with targeted body mechanics
  • Basic Thai Yoga techniques in supine, prone, and seated positions
  • Thai Yoga techniques for yoga class, e.g., in Savasana or Balasana

The training takes place at the Yogastern Academy in Wiesbaden.
